Rapid Rehousing Life Coach

YWCA Seattle King County & Snohomish County Seattle, WA

The primary responsibility of the Rapid Re-housing Life Coach is to help secure and stabilize housing for families experiencing homelessness, or housing instability. This short-term housing intervention is intended to quickly move families experiencing homelessness into permanent housing. Services provided include, but are not limited to support with housing search, landlord liaison activities, financial coaching, and housing counseling. This position will work closely with the Housing Program Manager to implement new housing and employment strategies aimed at linking housing case management and employment services with the goal of making progress toward living-wage employment and housing stability.

This position supports the YWCA’s Social Justice Initiative by understanding how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressions play out in institutions and systems. Knowing the core principles of antiracism work and grounding those principles in everyday social service practices are required job skills and core values of the YWCA.

Legal Advocate

The YWCA of Seattle King Snohomish Gender-Based Violence Specialized Services provides culturally relevant services that are designed to meet the needs of survivors of domestic violence/sexual assault and commercial sexual exploitation. Gender Based Violence, Legal Navigator will provide legal advocacy to adult survivors which could include support with protection orders, family law, CPS, housing navigation, safety planning and life skills, employment, housing, and etc. This position will use a model of best practice trauma-informed advocacy with a strength based approach.

This position has a social justice component that will allow for critical thinking around how the external systems influences the work that we are doing through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Valuing diversity and championing anti-racism policy are core values.

The ERI offers “Hope and Power” and “Money Mechanics” classes, one-on-one financial coaching and customized training to participants, and conducts community workshops in partnership with other service providers. With a spirit of innovation and continuous learning, we strive to provide high-quality services that are culturally appropriate, relevant and valuable to the participants we serve.

The financial coach will provide individualized financial coaching and education classes for community members with the goal of improving money management skills and increasing confidence in meeting financial goals. The coach will provide one-one-one coaching services and administer an incentivized matched savings program, providing financial incentives to participants who accomplish self-identified financial goals. The coach will also connect participants to YWCA employment and economic empowerment resources and to benefits like credit counseling and free tax preparation services. Classes are interactive and customized to meet the needs of each cohort of participants. Topics include improving credit, decreasing debt, increasing savings, improving money management, and avoiding predatory financial services. Our target population varies by class, but typically includes people of color who are low-income, unemployed, and/or homeless, survivors of domestic violence, immigrants or refugees, or other adults or youth who have other barriers to financial stability.
